What was the first CD you ever owned? Mine was Big Shiny Tunes 8, gifted to me along with a CD player on my 8th birthday. Queens of The Stone Age’s “Go With The Flow” was the fifth track on the compilation and I remember being taken back at the time by the propulsive heaviness of the track. My musical taste has changed a lot over the time and although a fair amount of tracks on the comp don’t hold up beyond the nostalgia factor, that one still bangs.
Seventeen years after the original release, Dan Wainwright has given us a new flow to go with. On this edit, he transforms the track into a leather-clad night-owl piece of midtempo synthwave, perfect for slow motion montages of Pontiac Firebirds draped in neon lights.
Said Dan about the remix, “I thought it’d be really cool to take that up tempo rocker by QOTSA and saw a way in to give it a new take and a bit of a spiritual spin, which is totally my kind of angle and stuff I love to look for in music.”
Wainwright’s Rituals on Night Noise EP arrives June 5th. Listen to the “Go With The Flow” Edit below and download it for free.99 over here.
