Bandcamp To Waive Revenue Shares on First Friday of Next Three Months

To support musicians affected by COVID-19, Bandcamp waived its revenues share on March 20 and saw 4.3 million dollars in music sales on the site, which was 15x higher than a normal day. The website announced that it will be doing this again on the first Friday of the month for the next three months, starting on May 1st.

On top of what Bandcamp is doing, many artists and labels are releasing exclusives or donating a portion of their proceeds to charity. For example, Sufjan Stevens is donating all proceeds to the First Responder’s Fund, while Caribou is donating his to No Kid Hungry and the Help Refugees Covid Appeal.
