CGI dog Calls Out From the Kitchen

A few weeks ago I went to a theatre and saw Parasite. One of the previews before the flick was for the new Harrison Ford movie, Call of the Wild, in which he has a digitally rendered canine sidekick. I thought it strange not to go with a real dog instead of some creepy uncanny valley type pooch and so did CGI dog, an LA-based musician whose moniker was inspired by the trailer.

“Kitchen (Crown Mix)” opens with a subaquatic kick and bass while warbly vocal harmonies float along the surface. A clanky breakbeat emerges before droning synth tones lift things higher into oblivion than before. Guitar provided by Trevor Crown pops in and out intermittently, adding another emotive layer to the textured and evolving soundscape. According to CGI dog, the two part song is about calling out for the attention of someone. He certainly has mine now.

CDI dog’s debut album is slated for a summer release. Check out the track below and download it here.
